u19 To the moon..(almost !)
Following a successful unbeaten 6-0 season the Seahawks u19 headed for the National Semi Finals as the #1 ranked team in the UK and understandably full of confidence, despite coming up against the powerhouse London Blitz, a team that have won the National Champion 8 times in the past 10 years.
National Semi Finals
In what many people considered should have been the final, the top 2 teams in the UK squared up in a huge game. The Seahawks defense had been one of the stingiest in the county, giving up only 31 points all season, while the Blitz offense was one of the most potent in the UK. The Seahawks own offense also wasn't one to be trifled with so it was set up to be a great game
In what was an electric atmosphere created by the Seahawks supporters at Wide Lane, the game got off to a unexpected start that saw the Blitz offense move the ball and score a rushing touchown to jump out to an early lead, althought they missed the extra point. Afer both offenses punting on thier next drive, the Seahawks were able to respond with a rushing touchdown and scored the extra point to take a 7-6 and the signs were encouraging.
The Blitz however, are not repeating National Champions for nothing and they slowly started to enforce their will on the game scoring two further touchdowns resulting in them going into the half leading 18-7.
On the first drive of the second, with the Seahawks hoping for a big defensive stop to give them a chance to get back in the game, the Blitz once again showed their offenive prowess with another big run resulting in a TD to extend the lead to 24-7 and really put the Seahawks in a difficult spot. With the season on the line the Seahawks offense was able to scrape together a drive and scored their second touchdown and with missed extra point reduced the score to 24-13.
On the next drive however, the Blitz effectively ended the game with another touchdown and 2 point conversion to extend the lead to 32-13 and despite some last gasp attempts by the Seahawks that is how the game ended and the Seahawks great season was over.
While the Seahawks were naturally disappointed with result, considering how far we have come since being 0-6 in 2024 and 3-3 in 2025, losing to the eventual National Champions is still an amazing achievement.
